A%26amp;M is a good school. Once you get to college, you can major in any subject and get into veterinary school, as long as you take the prerequisite courses.

For a suggested class list for pre-reqs, you should talk to one of your university's career counselors. If you're university doesn't have pre-vet, do the pre-med requirements. Check the websites for the veterinary schools you want to attend to see what their specific requirements are since most veterinary schools have slightly different requirements.

Generally, you need to take

1 year biology

1 year general chemistry

1 year organic chemistry

1 year biochemistry

1 -2 semesters of physics

cellular biology, microbiology, embryology, anatomy, physiology.

Some veterinary schools also require animal nutrition, economics, and encourage animal husbandry classes.

Most veterinary school require that you spend time working with a veterinarian and animals before you apply. Often 500+ hours. so get a job working in a clinic or volunteer with an animal organization before applying. You can also do work in shelters, or research with animals that may count toward your hours.

Veterinary schools also require that you take either the GRE, MCAT, or VCAT.

Again, you can major in anything as an undergrad as long as you have all of your requirements done, however people usually major in a science like animal science, biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, microbiology etc because those majors have significant overlap with the requirements for vet school.

There are 28 veterinary schools in the United States (if you are not in the US, then pretty much none of this applies to you, sorry) you can check out their websites. Try http://www.avma.org/education/cvea/colle鈥?/a> or http://www.avma.org/education/cvea/veter鈥?/a>

Getting into veterinary school is far more competitive than getting into medical school, so good luck!I want to become a wildlife vet.I have questions.?
You want to be a wildlife veterinarian? Awesome!!

I want to be a wild animal veterinarian too!!!

I don't know about the Texas veterinary school but since I live in California, UC Davis is the best to get in as a professional veterinary. If you don't want to pay for all 4 years of PRE-veterinary.. go to a community college and to the required English and Math courses... then you can transfer.

I'm currently going to Santa Monica College is said to be the best transfer college. After my required two years of normal studies such as english and math, then I'll be entering as Junior and have the hands on experience training I need. Why don't you do some volunteering in a local animal shelter or apply to be an intern for a local veterinary clinic. It will look good on your college application.

There are other good veterinary colleges like Kalamazoo, Univerisity of Vermont, Michigan State, Albany school of veterinary... etc.

Good luck!!
Hi the best way to find out what classes to take is to look up the requirements for A%26amp;M vet school. Most likely you will want to major in some type of animal science. Experience is also vital when applying to vet school. Volunteer at a wildlife rehabilitation center, zoos, etc. You can check out their prerequisites at this website: http://www.cvm.tamu.edu/dcvm/admissions/preprofprep.shtml

Remember vet school is competitive so you should probably apply to more than one vet school.
