Wildlife conservation?

What is the job opportunities for wildlife conservation in South Africa? What is wildlife conservation actually all about? Is it lab work or field work?Wildlife conservation?
Wildlife conservation is a field that varies widely. Saying you want to go into wildlife conservation is sort of like saying ';I want to go into the vacuum cleaner industry.'; There are a lot of facets, including awareness-raising organizations (such as the Sierra Club), legislation work (writing it or lobbying), rehabilitation, enforcement (working as a park ranger), and actually studying the animals to learn how to better protect them.

Conservation biology sounds like what you're asking about: that would be the last item on that list in the previous paragraph. You could also study applied ecology or wildlife management, depending on if you want to study ecosystems or specific animals.

I would say that studying wildlife would probably be mostly in-field, but there would probably be a lot of reporting and lab-like work. You may perform a necropsy on a dead animal to analyze stomach contents, or you may test animal blood and stools.
