There are no Wilife shelters in my local town, i don't have the space at home to become a foster parent, and i'm too young to get an animal related job, or any job for that matter! I feel like I was born to help animals, but i'm too young to do anything! Any suggestions will be greatly apreciated.Im 13 and really love wildlife. but i can't find any way to be involved in my wildlife community. help me?!

coz you're still very young it's good for you to learn a lot of things about the animals and wildlife..doing research and yeah learning a lot of things of course.. so it will be a great things for you when your age is enough..


going to camping.. maybe it would be nice too..


find another community around your town.. the nearby town if it's available..


yeah you can start to help the animals around your places like dogs, birds, cats, etc..

I would just stick with pets for right now- get some exotic pets or help at the humane society.


As for wildlife shelters, in most states you need to be at least 18 yrs due to liability reasons. You also can not become a foster parent legally until 16-18 as well.





All I can suggest is try to gain as much animal experience as you can (livestock even). Learning how to work around all different sizes of animals without being apprehensive can really help you later in life. I train summer interns at the zoo I work at and you can tell instantly who grew up with just cats and dogs, and who had more experience (farms for example). Plus, the animals can tell as well and will bite more often if you are not completely comfortable with them.





Please do not pick up animals on the side of the road, it is illegal in most states to possess wildlife, and even bringing a threatened or endangered animal to a rehab center can get you in big trouble. Plus, if you are not sure of the exact species, you will not know about it's behavior or defenses. Also, if you are not vaccinated for rabies, you do not want to be touching sick looking mammals anyways.
study and research get as much info as possible and when you are old enough you will be a great asset to your furry friends. maybe you can do volunteer work at a shelter this summer or help in a local park.
You are never, ever to young to help animals. If you see a animal on the side of the road tell your parent to stop and take it to somewhere safe. Also Bring food ad anything that the shelter needs. Helping animals isn't always and it isn't always working with animals
well in the summer, you can go camping and stuff in the wilderness and take hikes and stuff and you can through bird feed on the ground cause they just love it and it makes them happy and stuff and just bring like carrots for beeding deer and stuff and just try and be there friends, when you get older you can volenteer yourself at the SPCA. I no this has nothing to do wiht your question but I live arounda bunch of tree's and my nabour some how got this big buck deer to trust him and ever once in a while he would visit and my nabour would go outside and pet him and sit with him and feed him apples and they were like sorta buddys I have no clue how he did it though!!!
I know EXACTLY what you mean, I'm 13 and going crazy for the same reason. I've applied to every animal shelter, wildlife refuge, and environmental conservation organizations in like a 50 mile radius of my house, but I'm too young. Try to find a chapter of FFA, i am the vice president of mine and we do TONS of animal activities, I'm even going to get a pet cow! Most organizations want someone at least 16, so until then, look into FFA or 4H.

report it report it report it,if you know about it contact your local MNR or Wildlife Officer,unfortunately many states have weak or no laws prohibiting the breeding and sale of endangered animals.these animals are kept in little more than' Puppy Mills' There was just a case in Thunder Bay Ont were a guy had a Canadian Lynx as a pet had it declawed he has been charged $1000.00 but is refusing to tell were he bought the cat from other than from the states.

I want to be wildlife photographer. Anyone have any suggestions for colleges that offer degrees in this area? I have found many colleges with photography majors, and i hear of a fantastic one in California but i cannot seem to remember the name. Brooks Institute? One of the alum from Brooks has made a wonderful career as a nature photographer ... George Lepp has two websites and has workshops and institute of photography dedicated to wildlife photography. Visit them and send him an email with your plans for the future. There is no specific degree in wildlife photography. What these schools to is teach you how to get perfectly exposed images, any time, anywhere in the world, using any camera (yours or someone else's, film or digital) under any lighting conditions. After that, it is up to you what subjects you shoot and which equipment you choose and how you use it.Wildlife Photography?
Wildlife photography is a specialty that you attain by choice not a specialized photography classes. Any schools that offer photography classes will help you as a photographer. They'll teach you all the aspect you need to learn - lighting, composition, etc...





What is going to help you as a wildlife photographer is by taking Animal Studies courses. You need to understand your subject to understand your pictures. How you're going to tell a story if you don't understand their behaviors. Random shots are good, too, but then all you need is a camera and money to go to those wildlife sanctuary.

What's the best animal/wildlife?
It might not sound very exciting, but we get lovely birds in our garden - lots of bluetits, and robins, and a great big blackbird! I get a lot of pleasure watching them from our kitchen window!What's the best animal/wildlife?
1)Tis the strangest thing. First come some bird who brought me morning glory of so many different shade that just appeared out of nowhere.





2)Then hahaha Mr. Squirelly and a whole troupe of family and friends who would put on live wire acts for me and we would take turns laughing and barking and throwing nuts at each other.





3) Then the Cardinal came as all this other creatures... well haha tis dizzying as I can't tell which be more remarkable while this funny mocking bird I haven't seen yet but hear all the time singing and wala...





4) Then the summer when the rains come and so many odd little happenings as the water was shockingly unusually sweet one beautiful morn on the day the very ground was electrical and rich with slug and worm and pop pop went haha manhole covers flying in the air nearly killing people as they flying into trees and cars but thank god there was no reports of anyone being hurt. Oh but then omg... so many birds as I had never seen before as there was a carpet of them everywhere... scared me at first for I had never seen anything like it and they woundn't even scatter as they usually do. Was the strangest thing as in the sky well, was the same as below. I must got caught somehow during some kind of migrating thing but no... this was too unusual I swear. But there was this single one that came just before the rest arrived that I smell the ocean on his wings and not even 5 minutes after an ocean of white foamy birdfeather as far as the eye could see haha some hopping up and down my doorstep as if trying to get in. I was shocked.





5) Then the Dragon... The Dragon fly came and though I was able to catch both that and the Cardinal with my lens, well I am sorry I didn't have my camera that amazing Indian Summer when the birds were like an ocean's foamy froth on the very ground. Haha the man from Korea thought I was nuts as I went to him... OMG... DO YOU SEE THIS??? WTF? And he shocked me too cuz he was like, ya? so? haha Holy Makarena. I still in shock just to see such a site as that. But the Dragon fly ahaha I still laughing bout him. Well I think it was a him. I dunno.





quite a few other amazing, unbelievable treasures but I still be... well, in the oddest of states over it if you can imagine. wow. I still trying to catch my very breath back from those few alone.

Most wildlife biologist complete a Bachelor's degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science, Wildlife Management, or something similar and then they do a master's in wildlife biology as well. There is one organization, The Wildlife Society (www.wildlife.org), that certifies people as wildlife biologists by a combination of course work and work experience.


Honestly though, to get a job as a wildlife biologist you should have a great academic record but even more importantly you need experience in the field. While in college it is very imporant to be active in the student chapter of The Wildlife Society, volunteer to help graduate students and professors out on their research, and intern or work part time if possible. The field is competitive and having the experience will help you land a job!

Estimates range between 5 million and 30 million, but some biologists believe the figure may be as high as 100 million. Biodiversity is central to our existence. We derive much of the food we eat from species that were once wild, and we continue to rely on wild species to genetically improve domestic varieties of corn, tomatoes, and other food staples. We also use plants and animals found in natural ecosystems to develop new drugs for the treatment of various diseases. In addition, biodiversity provides us with many ammenities, such as bird-watching, ecotourism, fishing, and others. Despite the value of biodiversity to humans, we are currently destroying natural ecosystems at such a rate that many biologists fear that in a few decades we will cause an unprecedented number of extinctions. We are so far from cataloguing the diversity of life on Earth that an unknown number of animals and plants will become extinct and we'll never know what we lost. This is especially true of tropical forests and coral reefs, which we are losing particularly fast. These ecosystems are mostly in developing countries, which face many important challenges related to high debt burdens, poverty, social inequality, and population growth. Despite the grim outlook in some areas, there are many ongoing efforts to help preserve our natural heritage. As far as I know the whole of Asia is failing dismally in their efforts to conserve wildlife.


I know Malaysia is in SE Asia, but look at the pathetic attempts to save Orangutans there - de-forestation and factory-forest-farming for palm oil, out of control forest fires and people who still eat Orangutans, or kill the mothers when they are driven out of the forest so they can sell their babies.


Details change, but it is the same all over, and don't even get me started on China (I know it's not S Asia again, sorry) where you can go to an animal show and pay extra so you can watch a Tiger and Wolf put in the ring together. Or visit a ';factory'; where they harvest fluids from bears gall bladder's by strapping them on a table with a catheter inserted in their bodies for their entire lives.

For example, foresters, dendrologists, ethologists, entomologists, silviculturists (forest propagation and culture), forest range officers, zoo curators etc.

From field science and conservation policy to non-profit management and park operations, career opportunities at WCS are as diverse as their work. Anything with David Attenborough narrating as he is a legend. He is such a lucky person to go everywhere and see all these animals and different countries. I want the life collection for christmas its got loads of series by him if anyone is interested.

';Lions and Hyenas: Eternal Enemies'; National Geographic. 1993.
There was a Japanese one from when I was a little girl- called, ';The Glacier Fox';, which followed the lives of a family of foxes in harsh island environment for a year. I can still picture the individual animals, hear the music, and remember the ending. They brought the animals to life without making them too ';human';. Amazing filming and footwork. You should check it out if you can find it anywhere.
The Sapranos.
Well I would have to say that anything with Sir David Attenborough gets my vote.... Life of Mammals, Life of Birds, Planet Earth they are all excellent documentaries about wildlife and nature. I especially like the bird ones because avians are so diverse and interesting the last one I watched was about communication and mating displays, they showed a bird that could perfectly mimic any sounds it heard in the forest and incorporated the sounds into a mating serenade/dance to attract mates. The bird made the sound of 2 different camera shutters, a car alarm, a saw and most surprisingly a chainsaw!! which almost didnt seem real when emanating from this amazing bird.


Another favorite documentary of mine is National Geographic ';Return of the Wolves'; which documents the incredible lives of the so-named ';Druid Peak Pack'; wolves and what happened when they were reintroduced to Yellowstone Park. I always have loved to learn about wolves and it was incredible to see what an amazing comeback they had and how positively they influenced the ecosystem in Yellowstone.... Also the wolves are from Canada!! so I feel almost like they are my fellow Canadians...LOL Cheesy I know! But still it was an incredible documentary and it truly showed the way wolves really are instead of all the rumour and superstition that most people spew when they know nothing about these amazing carnivores. World Wildlife Fund (now World Wide Fund for Nature) founded in 1961.
A court in Europe ruled in favor of the World Wildlife Fund. So World Wrestling Federation had to change to World Wrestling Entertainment. WWE has moved on from it and so should you.

Sorry - I don't think there are any in the UK. This is because although in our homes we can keep pretty much whatever we want (including ludicrous animals like tigers and crocodiles, due to our pathetic liscensing system - or lack of), zoos are quite well regulated and most of them are looking towards conservation. Crossing a lion with a tiger is completely useless when it comes to conservation - there you have an animal with no purpose other than to be big and impressive.





There are however some pictures on Google of people hugging ligers, show your kids some pictures. Don't give money to a zoo who produces stupid hybrids for selfish reasons.

There doesn't seem to be anywhere in the UK but there are zoos around europe. like noahs ark in germany.

I hope none. No biologist or respected zoologist would ever cross breed a lion and a tiger. Sad.





It has been done in private wildlife parks. Only reason to do it is to make money. There's a term for that, exploitation. These are sad messed up people.
